An NBC Los Angles helicopter reporter and the pilot are presumed dead after a fiery crash while leaving the scene of a fatal bus accident in Chatsworth.
Video from the helicopter as it left the bus crash scene showed the helicopter losing altitude and a warning horn sounding in the background. The video drops out likely due to the signal no longer reaching the TV station due to the low altitude.
Ms. Moreno graduated Chapman University in Orange in 2010 and immediately began a career in TV news.
The identity of the helicopter pilot has not been released.
On a personal note, we worked with Eliana Moreno regularly on Orange County stories, often briefing her as she was on her way to breaking news. She was an amazing and always upbeat person, a joy to work with. Her loss is a true tragedy.
