City of Orange Fire Chief Sean deMetropolis completed his last day as Fire Chief Thursday. Hundreds of supporters, Firefighters, and family members turned out to thank him for his friendship and years of exemplary service to the city.
Chief deMetropolis has served the City of Orange for more than three decades, and is widely recognized as a model 21st century Fire Chief. The Orange Fire Department has long been a shining example of a very efficient and well run department. Chief deMetropolis’ strong and forward thinking leadership leaves the department in excellent shape as he hands the reigns over to the new Chief.
At Tuesday’s regular City Council meeting it was announced that City Manager Jarad Hildenbrand has appointed Alan Velasco as the city’s next Fire Chief.Â
Velasco is currently a Battalion Chief with the City of Orange Fire Department, and has over 25 years experience. He brings an exceptional record of service and dedication and will continue to guide the City of Orange Fire Department forward into its next chapter.
Chief deMetropolis can rightfully be very proud of the department he is handing over, he served the citizens of Orange well and faithfully. To say he will be sorely missed is a gross understatement.
