AMMONIA LEAK INJURES DELIVERY DRIVER

An ammonia tanker driver is in the hospital after being exposed to potentially deadly ammonia while delivering the gas to a company on N. Main Street in Orange shortly after 1 a.m. Friday morning.

The driver told Firefighters that the delivery hose somehow became partially disconnected while he was delivering the gas to a tank at the business.

A HazMat team from the Anaheim Fire Department decontaminated the driver and he was then transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange.

Busy Main Street was close to traffic by Orange Police as the Hazmat Team secured the delivery hose and dissipated the ground hugging ammonia gas.

Several workers in a nearby business were evacuated from the area safely.
