Recently, Orange Fire Chief Sean deMetropolis announced he was retiring with his last day on the job being January, 29th 2026.
Chief deMetropolis has served the City of Orange for more than three decades, and is widely recognized as a model 21st century Fire Chief. The Orange Fire Department has long been an example of a very efficient and well run department. Chief deMetropolis’ strong and forward thinking leadership leaves the department in excellent shape as he hands the reigns over to the new Chief.
At Tuesdays regular City Council meeting it was announced that City Manager Jarad Hildenbrand has appointed Alan Velasco as the next Fire Chief, immediately following Chief deMetropolis’s retirement.
Velasco is currently a Battalion Chief with the City of Orange Fire Department and has 25 years of service. He brings an exceptional record of service and dedication and will continue to guide Orange City Fire forward into this next chapter.
Chief deMetropolis can rightfully be very proud of the department he is handing over, he served the citizens of Orange well and faithfully.
